Another chow-dah
I love cream soups; so bad, but so very tasty. This is a classic clam chowder recipe from 300 Comfort Foods. Prep is minimal, and it's an easy meal to prepare during the busy work week. If you want to make it vegan friendly, the bacon can easily be omitted. Enjoy!

Cheesy cheese soup
This soup was a staple for hubby and I when we were alternating weekends at each other's places. It comes from our Better Home Gardens New Cook Book. It is very easy to make, and the inclusion of the different vegetables make it a complete meal. I usually use whatever cheeses we have on hand in the house (for this time around, I'll be using leftover gouda and cheddar cheese; I've also used smoked cheddar and swiss cheese), provided they will melt well into the soup (mozzarella being one that shouldn't be used). Use your favorite rolls or buns to dip into the soup or to mop up any remaining soup in your bowl. Enjoy!

What to do with turkey leftovers?
I love using leftover turkey for this soup recipe. It's a good hearty chowder that's perfect for the fall or winter, and the preparation is minimal. The recipe comes from Cooking a commonsense guide. Enjoy! Click the link to download the recipe.

Carrot soup
I love making this soup. The orange juice and curry powder gives an extra layer of flavor, and the yogurt makes it nice and thick. It comes from Joanna Burkhard's 300 Best Comfort Foods Recipes. It tastes great with crusty slices of French bread, or any crusty bread that you have handy. Enjoy!

Best of both worlds onion soup
This is my modified version of the French onion soup found in The Newlyweds' Cookbook. I took some of the elements from the recipe I used to use, and combined them with this one. Enjoy!

The best tomato soup
I love making this tomato soup in the spring, when tomatoes are plentiful and sweet. It is from 300 Comfort Foods. I find the initial roasting of all the vegetables really brings out the flavors and gives a nice full flavor to the soup. I also enjoy that it has all these other vegetables and not just tomatoes. I usually get all the vegetables prepared once I get home, and let them roast in the oven while I'm watching TV, then finish it off once I'm done watching my shows. We like having grilled cheese sandwiches on the side to dip in the soup, but you can also use buns or crusty bread. Enjoy!

Simple, yet fancy, tomato soup
This recipe comes from Cooking for two or more from The Pampered Chef company. My bridesmaids organized a party for me in my hometown, and I am completely in love with their products. I easily use at least one of my Pampered Chef tools each time I cook. This soup is very easy to make, and the dumplings make it a little more filling. The recipe can easily be doubled, but I would recommend not increasing the flour for the dumplings, as it ends up being too much (and makes the dumplings taste very doughy...sure, that's a word...). Enjoy!

My favorite fall soup
This is easily my favorite fall recipe because it is really the only time that I can make it. The first time I had butternut squash soup was at a restaurant in Victoria when hubby and I were first dating. I loved the creamy consistency, and I knew I wanted to try and make some for myself. I was making my own version for the longest time (using a pumpkin soup recipe, and just exchanging the pumpkin for butternut squash), and then I found this version in The Newlyweds' Cookbook. Instead of onions, it uses leeks and it has the addition of some spices which I didn't use before. It also has pine nuts, my favorite nut (and inconveniently, one of the more expensive nuts), and it give an extra nuttiness to the soup. Enjoy!
*EDIT: I'm attempting a variation on this recipe, and adding a couple of apples to the mix. Should be tasty!
