Now, before spring break began, I had idle thoughts of getting some baking done: cupcakes (I've been wanting to try and make a hummingbird cupcake, rather than a cake), maybe some bread (I've been craving some scones), maybe try a couple of recipes that I have in my bookmarks on my computer. Clearly, none of those desires came into fruition. It would be silly to blame the disaster zone that is currently our condo, but I think it could be a partial contribution, as well as the hormonal fun that is being pregnant (and boy oh boy, the emotions have been a bit of a roller coaster!).
The one thing that I can legitimately say was close to coming to fruition was the cupcake idea. I've explained at length in previous entries how much I LOVE cupcakes, and will always choose them over cake. Well, while watching Kelly & Michael, they talked about the latest and greatest in vending machines: a cupcake atm. For only $4.25, you can have a fresh cupcake delivered directly to you from the machine, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. They have a variety of flavors to choose from, and the machines are restocked 2-3 times a day to ensure freshness of the product. As well as New York, there are machines in Chicago, Atlanta, Washington and in LA, where Sprinkles, the company that made it all happen, is based. The whole venture is apparently a few years in the making, where they tried it out initially in LA and made whatever tweaks needed to be made there before going national.
If presented with the opportunity to use one of these cupcake atms, I would find it very difficult to stay away. Even at $4.25 a piece (if bought in store, they cost $3.75; the extra 50 cents is to cover the cost of the little box that protects the treat when it is dispensed from the machine), the fact that you can satisfy your craving at any time of day is pretty awesome. Granted, that means that it has to be accessible to make it worth one's while, but it is still a really neat concept. In the meantime, I'll just get my fix from Cupcakes, or make my own at home. :)
Here is the meal plan for the week. We didn't make the taco pie last week, so I'm making it this week. Just the one oldie that I haven't made in a while. Have a great week and happy cooking all!
