This past Thursday, after viewing our maternity shoot photos from Blue Olive (who we've previously worked with for our wedding; LOVED the shots and can't wait for when they shoot Nugget when he/she finally arrives), hubby and I went out for dinner in Gastown. Initially, I had suggested Peckinpaugh, but then as we neared it, I saw Six Acres next door and changed my mind. We hadn't been since that first visit I don't know how many years ago now, and I realized I was feeling more like picking at food (which, it turns out, was the same for hubby).
They seated us upstairs (which was where we were seated last time). We ordered the Gorgonzola hot pot, a pound of wings with sweet chili glaze, and a new item, lamb meatballs. We had the hot pot last time we were here, and it was just as good as I remembered it to be: good and cheesy with the occasional bulb of roasted garlic: YUM. The wings were quite good as well; the sweet chili glaze had a little more kick to it compared to a Thai chili glaze, and the wings were good and crunchy as well. The meatballs were easily my favorite: good mix of lamb topped with a chipotle sauce (which gave the lamb some sweetness and earthiness at the same time) and crumbled boiled egg (surprisingly good combination!). I'm glad that I changed my mind at the last minute, because I don't think I would've been able to manage a pile of meat from Peckinpaugh!
Here's the meal plan for the week. I haven't been experimenting as much lately, I've been coming home pretty tired. I can't believe I only have two more weeks left of work before I go on mat leave! The photos down below are various meals from the past few weeks. Enjoy the weekend all and happy cooking!
