Fast-forward to about five years ago, when I was first dating my husband. He knew about my dislike for Indian food, but decided to make his version for me anyways, telling me that I'll like it. It was a family recipe that has been passed down from his grandparents, who were quite the globetrotters when they were younger, and used to live in Indonesia (where curry-type dishes are quite common). To ease the spicy factor, we had peanuts, bananas and chopped cucumbers mixed with yogurt. I really enjoyed it, and I started to become more adventurous with trying different curry dishes (and also discovering that they're not all just "curry")
After we got engaged and moved in together, hubby was on the hunt for an Indian cook book. We eventually found a very good one that features many different dishes. My only complaint is that most of them are Sunday dishes, in that they take a while to prepare and cook. The end result is most definitely worth it! One of the recipes I'm including this week is actually two: tandoori chicken and chicken tikka masala (aka butter chicken, the one dish that I'm fairly certain introduces people to Indian dishes).
Here is the meal plan for the week. Unfortunately, I'm not doing too much cooking this week because hubby will be off on a business trip from Monday to late Wednesday evening. It's just not fun for me to cook unless there's someone else to cook for. :-D The recipes for nearly all the dishes are available this week (except the French onion soup, which is a brand-new recipe that I'm trying; if it works out, I'll share!). I've also included a "bonus" recipe, banana spice muffins. The photos below are from last week's plan. Happy cooking!
